Casual Day

Hi everyone! Lots of fun new items are out right now from designers participating in great monthly events.  There is just so much good stuff out there right now - it just blows my mind and my pocketbook.  Wasabi Pills has released Sibel for Uber.  Its a just right medium length hair with a bit of curl and braid over the top; perfect for sweet looks.  The Men's Dept. opens tomorrow with a fantastic collection.  My pants, bag and necklace will be there and each comes in a version for both genders.  I love the little toggle on KITJA's pipe pants and yes they come in colors more masculine than pearl.  Enfant Terrible has joined the event and has a fabulous set of bags. They come in many sizes as well as rigged and non-rigged versions. There is also a smaller handbag.  These are available in other colors as well. The BullzSkull from modish is does have both M/F sizing as well as a materials version. I also adore my cropped sweater from Pixicat, out at the this round of Kustom9. I am crazy for the metalwork, which is also color change.  Very nice! The shoes are from Ingenue for the round of Collabor88 that is ending soon. They are available in a myriad of yummy colors.

Enchantment is also running and the theme this month is Beauty and the Beast.  I always enjoy going around to the participating merchants and seeing what special item they are offering.  an lar poses has a very nice set called The Beauty Series, which you can pick up at a reasonable price as your purchase to get the necessary card you will need to get stamped for more prizes.

Snow Bunny

Hi! I rarely look at the Destination Guide, but checked out 'photogenic spots' recently and was very intrigued by a post for Frisland.  I keep planning on setting up some winter scenes but just have not had time, so I popped over to Frisland and discovered the most wonderful winter location.  The sim is heavily forested making it perfect to find a little hiding spot and shoot some photos of an adorable get-up.

The Men's Department has gachas this month only and quite a few of them are also female friendly. B.C.C. is offering some lovely heavy sweaters and if you are really lucky you can win a version for men or women (you pick gender) with a lovely coat.  Nardcotix also has a gacha at TMD and you can win a variety of Rain Boots.  I loved the Plaid ones with this look as they have a subtle pattern reminiscent of Burberry's iconic Horseferry check.  At first I was stumped with what to pair with the jacket and then I remembered the precious leggings by Pixicat at Collabor88. I just could not decide on which color I liked best, so like the smart person I am I decided to fatpack it, which is usually a great route to go with this brand.  Nothing extended my soft and cozy look like Tableau Vivant's Snowbunny hair also at Collabor88.  The bunnies do not HAVE to be worn, but please why would you not?  FYI - even the bunnehs have a color hud! Since I was so pale I wanted my eyes to pop so I found the perfect shadow in Wicked Peach's Winter tone of the Season's Greetings Gacha at The Liaison Collaborative, where you can also find some spectacular gachas this month in addiction to all the other fare.

Candy, Oh?

I am hopelessly behind on blogging! RL has been busy and I am having computer issues, like PS refused to open on the cloud (grr) but I had to show you some of the cuteness over at Candy Fair 2014.  It's a bright spot on the current event calendar and has some really good stuff!   I was really impressed by how the organizers laid out the booths so that designers of similar products are near each other, e.g. poses.  Speaking of poses, I was super impressed with the pose sets that were being offered at the fair, so if you are in need, the Fair is definitely worth checking out.

Tableau Vivant, along with Glam Affair, have recently reopened with some great new changes. Tableau Vivant has reintroduced a new color line that is simply fantastic.  Hair color is changed via a new HUD that features 30 options. Even basic colors have a balayage effect so they never look flat. All new releases will feature the new colors:

8.13.2014: Sometimes the Pants Wear You

I have a "thing" for fetishy types of clothes that can be worn outside of RP. Pixicat's Rouge pants/boots for We <3 Role-Play are some of the most bad-ass looking pants I've seen in awhile.  I do not know areve, who is Pixicat, but I admire her terribly. She has amazing range, her mesh is great and I usually scoop up any new releases I can find of hers.  The textures on these pants...love.  I paired it up with Le Primatif's Kimono Blouse which is at the August round of FaMESHed because I really like yani Tryce's work, too. Plus I felt going all hard edge was just too obvious a choice :)

I am wearing Flounce's new release, Lana skin, in a darker tone and also added the "Beastly" brows for an updated look. Tableau Vivant's new Persephone hair for Collabor88 is gorgeous, and the version without the crown worked perfectly. Bliensen + MaiTai is all over the place lately and Plurabelle Laszlo's Mjolnir necklace gave a nice contrast to Le Primatif's solid top.

8.8.2104 Late Summer Getaway

Summer is starting to wind down up north where I live. I notice the sun setting sooner an though we did not get a hot summer this year, the nights are definitely crisper. Summer means tourists on Lake Michigan, but even us locals are getting out for a weekend getaway before school starts and the water turns cold. Probably next weekend will actually be my getaway weekend to go up north and poke through shops looking for their clearance items :) and eating ice cream (or smoked fish, if you prefer).

The look here (if you aren't a tourist) is casual but upscale. We are a land of boaters and cottagers and if I could drag an outfit from SL for the weekend it would be this.  Pixicat, one of my new favorite brands, released the precious Key Top as one of the purchases for Enchantment that includes a "stamp card".  The premise is more or less this: instead of shopping in one place like most events, you purchase at least one "Enchantment" item from one of 20 merchants.  Then you must go to each merchant and find the stamp machine (which is adorably made by Anya Ohmai) and touch it wearing your stamp card(s).  I bought more than one item and wore all my cards at once and they all stamped at the same time.  Once your card is filled you go to the Enchantment area and pick out one prize per card.  The comfy Pine shorts are from LpD and are available in 5 colors for a steal at The Courtier's Docks.

The super roomy getaway bag is a new release from Ison that you can pick up at the new Uber event through the month of August.  It has a monthly theme and this month is Vacation.  The Maleese Striped Bag is available in 7 colors and each includes 2 hand attachments.  I particularly love Wasabi Pill's Nana hair that was recently released at Hair Fair.

Do you all remember Cupcakes - the fab store that made their own skin and clothing line?  Mimi Coral, who was the original Cupcake with her shop <3 Cupcakes was a long time favorite of mine (the dresses were adorb!), and she is back with a new store called Flounce.  As before, her skin is completely handmade and she has released several new lines.  Each line contains tat layers for lip colors, freckles, beauty marks, blush, etc. as well as various brow and cleavage options.  They are all very reasonably priced as are the appliers, sold separately but at prices cheaper than a gacha.  She even has a sign in her store that says "Is your favorite applier missing? IM Mimi Coral and I will make it for you!" Talk about Customer Service! Mimi is one in a million.

7.26.2014: Sunny

Hair Fair is ending soon and it was one of my favorite in many years. There were so many new designers! Though not brand new Milk Hair is a relative newcomer to the scene and is quickly becoming a favorite. I am in love with Santana!  It comes in texture huds, which I have become a HUGE fan of as my inventory is downright embarrassing, especially if you open those boxes.  I love the little lift provided by the bouffant in back as well as the pull in the back. It's loose and free and sexy.

Two other favorite events have been Season Story and Romp.  Pixicat is a store that I increasingly look forward to their new releases.  The designs are unique and it is obvious that so much effort was made into their creation.  The Summer Dress comes in texture huds, so it's kind of like a little fat pack, and I adore the braided straps. Glam Affair's Kallisto skins at Romp are downright sexy as are most items at Romp.  We have a lot of events in SL, some of which glorify sexualized body parts but Romp is broader themed event featuring items that help you show your kinky side.

Quick mention, Bliensen & MaiTai, a favorite of mine, has some new items that will be available at The Aloha Fair, which begins on July 28 and runs through August 11.  In addition to cute little rings and shoes she has the most gorgeous set of nails for Slink hands that are definitely worth a trip.

6.4.2014: Me & my JJ

If anyone noticed, I kind of did fall off the face of the planet there for a bit.  I have been sicker than I have been in years and am completing my first round of Cipro and starting to feel like myself again.  I apologize in the delays in blogging...and I was starting to get on a roll there.

This round of The Arcade is interesting; there are very few clothing items (I guess accessories and decorative items are more broadly appealing as a gacha item), but I was thrilled to see that Pixicat joined with this round and has made some stunning kimonos.  I am particularly in love with the patterned ones, especially this Koi one.  The kimonos are actually rompers so you can wear it alone and not show off parts you would rather not share.  The dragon on my shoulder is one of the rare items from the gacha and I just adore him.

Truth's Sakura hair for The Arcade is a ton of fun. You can win the style with either two buns or one in each color hud as well as with teddy bears, flowers, kokeshi dolls or sushi.  I am wearing the light blonde with sushi which is a rare and I was thrilled how well it worked with the kimono.  The skin is also from The Arcade; Glam Affair's Liv skin. There are a ton of those to collect this time with 3 skin tones and two skin styles.
