Dark Fantasy

During my travels through Fashion for Life, I came across this hair from EMO-tions. This is one of the most fab hairs I've found lately. It's hard to find what I call "glam hair". I know glam isn't the right word for it, but yeah. Anyway, what I mean is, "out of the norm" hair. Hair that just begs to be photoed. And this hair is definitely photo-worthy! It comes with 2 pony tail attachments (rigged, and flexi), and a bun. Also included is the horns, and the face chains. And with 25% of the proceeds going to RFL, its a great buy!

I decided to pair it up with a FAB dress I found at Zanze. You can find it in their booth at FFL. It also comes in a gold version, which is stunning, but the platinum looks beauuuuuuutiful with my horns! :D I also got slammed with compliments when I wore this out shopping after my photo shoot. So yeah. Be sure to pick up these items while you're at FFL. You won't be disappointed! ^.^

Until next time! :D

Back to Black + Wasabi Pills

I am way behind in blogging the Back to Black Event which started last Friday.  Chic Management, the event host, has been around long enough now that we are seeing the second year of events and they are always superb.  Back to Black is a mental health awareness event.  Chic is not running this as a charity event though some designers have chosen to donate earnings to charity.  Sadly, mental health needs both.  According to the SAMHSA website in the US mental health and substance abuse funding grew slower than all other health funding, which is really sad when you understand that the public sector significantly outspend private insurers when it comes to funding mental health care.  What this boils down to is that for people with the most severe mental illnesses, they have to lose almost everything before they can get adequate mental health care.  This only serves to perpetuate stigmatizing views of people who have a mental illness/issue so I'm all for anything that promotes awareness.  Luckily treatment advances have occurred and there is no reason for anyone to have to suffer in shame or alone.
I've been inspired by the sharing of so many designers as well as event organizers of their own experiences with mental heath. I would feel like a complete hypocrite if I did not also share that I have both Major Depression and an Anxiety Disorder for which I receive treatment.  My first real depressive episode happened while I was in graduate school and it was easily treated with medication.  When my husband died suddenly a  few years back, it felt like the world fell out from under me.  However, I had a toddler to care for and was a busy professional (in mental health :) and I did not take very good care of me and eventually my symptoms snuck up and bit me back.  I continue to experience symptoms of impaired concentration and anxiety but luckily it's all pretty well managed at this point.  Recovery is possible.

I've talked a lot about mental health and not enough about the fantastic items I am showing here, most of which are available at Back to Black.  Instead of writing more here, please read the credits for more information on what I am wearing.

I Quit You

Jacqui was a swinger and only looking for a little afternoon delight with the hot housewife she met at the weekend consciousness-raising seminar. Eden was a passionate woman with a LOT of *love* to give. When it was good, it was very good. And when it was bad, it was time for Jacqui to move on ... and time for Eden to pull out her "special" garter.

J'aime Chocola

One of the things that keeps me enchanted in SL is finding stores that are new to me.  My dear friend, Quiver Quintessa from Nushru told me about Ajaya Jinx's store, Chocola and I immediately fell in love.  Quiver is a clever designer in her own right so I respect her opinion and she did not fail. Chocola is a charming shop with an impressive range of clothing.  You won't find one dress in a bazillion different colors but what you will find it tasteful and imaginative.  There are also some men's pieces and lashes but I was pretty busy drooling over the clothes.  I'm only showing 2 of my favorite dresses here because I am desperately trying to cling to my Linden's for the Fashion for Life event starting this weekend...but I will be back, many times.

Both dresses I'm wearing pair nicely with the new triple strand pearls from DECO.  I've long been a follower of Orchid Zenovka's shop and my DECO folder is basically my "go to" folder for jewelry.  The pearls come in a variety of colors and are accented by a small bow.
