Color Challenge meets Culture Shock

Late to the game as always on the Color Challenge.  I will never be first but possibly last, just like being picked in gym class.  This week's color challenge was Thistle and it was not as easy as I first imagined it to be.  It's kind of a lavenderish pink and purple is not generally my thing.  My old (2009) dress from TART (now Evale) fitted the bill just about perfectly but then I chose the remainder of items from the upcoming Culture Shock 2012 event.

Chic Management hosts some of the best events on the grid and the 2nd annual Culture Shock event aims to incorporate the cultural influences of those involved.  This event, sponsored by Modavia Productions, is also a charity event where each of the 184 stores involved must include at least one EXCLUSIVE item where at least 50% of the proceeds will benefit charity. The chosen charity is Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) for the second year.  The event opens tomorrow, 4.4, at 4 PM SLT and runs through May 26th.  It is important to note that some things have been done to create less lag and one of them concerns you.  If you have more than 50 scripts running on your avatar you will not be able to gain entrance.  Right click yourself on most viewers and you can retrieve that information.  Some scripts are more taxing than others so be aware of what you are wearing.

I always love Wasabi Pills mesh hair selection and the amazing MissAllSunday Lemon has created yet another lovely piece for Culture Shock, called Shiori.  Wasabi provides a "BOOBS" version of the hair for those of you who are endowed as well as tattoo hair-bases and a HUD to change band colors (easy to detach and that script is gone!).  The skin from YS&YS is exclusive to Culture Shock and comes with about a billion options from cleavage to brow colors to lashes and freckles.  I am wearing the teeth version and I love it.  I generally despise teethies in SL because I look ridiculous in them but this one is subtle enough to make my purist heart happy. I added the sweet lip tattoo from Redbird, which is a new store to me, from their Candied Lip pack (as well as an older Lelutka eyeshadow to get the color challenge effect).  The Shocking Eyes are new from Mons. These are a donation item and are really bright and and clear with enough dark tones to give them a nice depth.  Last but not least, I love A.S.S.'s new Decade Rings.  The rings include a hud so that you can change the texture (again detach and no scipts).  They best fit a large hand, but I like em!  Even my pose from Status was found at the event!

You can access Culture Shock 2012 beginning tomorrow, 4.4, at 4 PM SLT.  A zoomable map with a complete listing of slurs  is available so you can find your favorite stores or enjoy wandering and discover someone new to you.  The landing point is here.

Color Challenge: Shuttle Grey

In RL I live in a northern climate and grey is a shade I know a lot about.  It's odd how I am drawn to it even in SL even though there are very few sims that are blustery year 'round.   The challenge for me was calling good enough alone as I have so much.  In the end I was happy with a casual look that included one of my favorite pants from Maitreya and a sweater from Baiastice.  The hair is a new style from Wasabi Pills and right now can be found at Fantasy Faire 2012.

Danger was her Middle Name

I got a new gun!
Deco, maker of gorgeous jewelry and machine guns (and other amazing sculpted items), has released a new Muffler Rifle.  I tend to be more of a tree hugging pacifist so I don't know a lot about guns but this one is street legal and operational, including a removable muffler, custom animations, effects and semi/full firing modes.  No need to fear stalkers and ex-partners with this baby!

Also, true to her gothy roots of cuteness, Ghanima Uriza has released a cute new short dress.  It is accented by a lacy bodice and a nice pop of color trim.  It includes gloves and stockings (not shown).

Color Challenge: Bright Turquoise

It's been a few weeks since I've had the time to do a color challenge and this is a great color.  This spring is all about colors that pop and I found my best match in this well loved favorite from Picadi Jasha.  I miss that store and will forever kick myself for not buying every single piece of jewelry they sold when they closed.  The necklace is also a favorite from Kyccie's, another store that closed (is that how you know you are getting to be an old avatar?)  Oh for pities sake, I just noticed my stockings aren't sold anymore either though Shania Singh does have some of her cute socks on marketplace.
Thankfully I am not a complete washout as both my hair and skin are NEW!  Wasabi Pills newest mesh hair, Shiki is just so darling.  It includes matching hairbases and a HUD that lets you chose from many color options for both elastic bands and barrettes (separately).  I've become such a die hard fan of MissAllSunday's hair.  The lovely porcelain skin is from the new line, Leah, from Glam Affair.  Called Contessina, it is available at a special price a The Gallery Gift Shop. It includes skins for 3 different brow colors as well as with/without hair base.  There is a gift version available as well (an awesome gift!) as well as complementing male skin by Tableau Vivant (also has gift option).

Before I forget, the Pose Fair is under way and I am a huge pose addict like most bloggers.  The poses I am using today are all from Exposeur's new Blissful set.  RubyStarlight Writer, owner and creator of Exposeur includes both male and female versions of poses in the new sets, which is pretty cool.  Ruby is tip-top at pose making and I've been a loyal customer for ages.  Thanks, Ruby!

mon petit chou

I write this post with a rather huge sense of guilt.  I have been so slammed with things in both RL and SL and I have been dying to show Cane Sutter's adorable petite mesh avatars.  She so kindly shared them with me about a month ago and I simply have not had time.  They are beyond adorable.  I was kind of a mesh late bloomer until Firestorm released it's latest viewer but I manage on it just about as easily as I have previous old favorites.  The petite mesh craze started out at Yabasuka and now the Yabu sim has a huge store with avatars, outfits, accessories, ao's, you name it, for these darlings.  Cane Sutter of Skinthesis has a huge selection of little mesh people to chose from...I am showing just a sample that I just adore.
The TinyDolly avatar is a precious little babydoll all done up in a flapper style.  You can chose between a new doll or include joints and/or cracks.  In the photo on top you can see the delicate cracks on her face.  It also includes hair in 2 colors as well as the sweet poppet outfit and doll key (that works).
The little fawn is a precious little woodland creature.  The set includes bare and modest coverings (I am wearing modest) that cover up her little bits.  This cutey comes in a few different color options.  I just need some panpipes.
If you prefer to go a bit more mainstream for a petite, Cane has a huge selection of avatars called Dualities.  They come in 24 different color options. I am showing the Shell tone but you can go green or red or dark.  She comes with an outfit but I chose to wear Cane's Lick of Frost outfit, particularly because the wings are fabulous.  This is a perfect petite for dress up.  I added Wasabi Pill's Monique hair in a petite version because it was too adorable.

Thank you again, Cane, for sharing these with me.  I now have a new addiction :)

The Petite Avatar Kingdom on the Yabu sim has oodles of cute items from several merchants and it seems to be growing daily.  The slurls below will be to the main store of each creator.
