5.2.2014: The Fantasy Gacha Carnival: Black Pearls, Munereia & Bite&Claw

Well, only 2 more days until the opening of the May round of The Fantasy Gacha Carnival.  I am really happy about the fact that there are so many RP-related events as of late.  For a long time there seemed to be a distinct divide between fashionistas and RPers and I love the cross-over.

I'm wearing just a few of the wonderful items you can win at TFGC.  Black Pearls has a fantastic outfit named the Fallen. You can win it in either black or brown. The posture collar I have on is the ultra rare and if you are lucky enough to score that you get as well the complete outfit, tattoos, ankle/wrist warmers, cuffs and nipple piercings (not shown) as well as the rare face mask. All these items are fitted mesh so you will need the newest viewer to enjoy them!  Quite a prize for someone lucky! I chose to wear the Frilled & Furred Top (rare) from Munereia as I wanted to show you the lovely texturing job that they did. All of the items from this set are materials enabled. If you win the rare version it include a color change HUD.  Bite&Claw has a wonderful warpaint gacha planned for the event that includes 2 rares and 6 commons for only 25 L per play. Good times!

I busted Kat's Bubble

Out on a routine shopping trip the other day with my partner in crime, Kat Alderson, we landed at Monso. While I was scouting for goodies, she noticed a gacha machine that had the cutest wearable speech bubbles. Despite my trying to stay away (far away) from gacha's, I just had to look! They had several different sayings, but one was just perfect for Kat. "Yeah! I'm Famous!" If you know her at all, you'd swear this one was made for her. I, being the eternal smartass, also found one to go with it. The yin to her yang, so to speak. :D

*snickers*

Being that we both got a haul on our shopping trip that day, I figured it would be the perfect time to put those speech bubbles to good use, and flaunt our new-found goodies. Until next time! \m/

Shoetopia 2013: Let's Talk about Shoes!

OMG, It's almost here and I am so excited.  I have been dreaming of shoes for months now as one of the committee members of Shoetopia 2013 and I can promise that you will not be disappointed. It's been a few years since we've had a shoe fair of this proportions and so much has changed. Mesh was in it's infancy, Slink feet were in their 1st generation and none of us tossed around the words "applier" and "add-on" like we do these days, we had not been blessed with Gos' genius skin matching and color+ systems.  Shoetopia is going to spoil and thrill you.

I'm not going to go into a huge description of the event as photos and maps are on the offiicial Shoetopia 2013 blog, so let me give you the skinny:  Shoetopia is composed of 2 sims (both equally amazing).   The layout is in a circle with landing point in the middle as well as sponsor stores. To the left and right of the landing point are gacha machines that are full of tons of things from a variety of top designers. On the edges of the circle are all the other shoe booths.  The two sims connect by a walkway.

The adorable T-straps are a new release from League and are made for Slink Medium Feet.  Incidentally, they can be sized down to fix your SL feet but the fit will not be perfect.  They also include a hud to change the metal textures.  I'm also showing a few of the gacha items from Shoetopia and darling new releases from coldLogic and Wasabi Pills.

DU, too!

Comp is giving me fits today but nonetheless I must carry on!  More cuteness from Designers United.  The dress is from B.C.C., called Jewelry Raindrop dress so of course I had to get blue. It comes with these little raindrops that you can attach to your avatar for added effect but raindrops and pose chairs don't go together very well.  The pose chair is a collab between Marukin and NYU and is all adjustable and stuff.
So today, I ended up at the Courtier's Docks because I had to get this adorable hair piece from Black Liquid.  It is a limited Edition and I think it's nearly half sold out so hurry if you need it.  It does not include a hair base and it's one tough black to match. The designer gives you a LM to Paper Couture because she has a matching hair base but I knew I had one in my inventory and get tired of rebuying things because I can't find what I need.  However, I did go to Paper Couture and lo and behold there were new items!  I had to get the Pearl and Silver Collar, in all it's delicate loveliness.  Oh and, I did find a hairbase and it's a really good match: It's Miamai Hairbase Style C_Black 3. I needed the middle part and nothing else would do.

Hair Fair: Miamai + the French Connection

If there is one thing that Monica Outlander of Miamai is the master of it's glamour.  Be it classic, avante garde, or romantic, she makes it look effortless.  She has released 5 new mesh hair pieces for Hair Fair 2012 and they are stunning. They are all unrigged and modifiable. I honestly could not pick a favorite. Hair Fair wraps up this weekend and the 2 weeks of it have flown by.  Soon the hair will be in the stores but there is an important reason to still visit and that is that Hair Fair is a charity fundraiser, with a percentage of sales going to Wigs for Kids.  If you are inclined to purchase, do so now and help out a child in need.

Before I start carrying on about these gorgeous styles I wanted to mention the gown.  HelenSue Helendale of DEW Designs shared her newest release with me, the French Connection gown, and it's just super stunning. The main dress is mesh and comes in standard sizes and she has added to flexi attachments for ruffles on the back.  You can remove these attachments if you prefer a simple, drop dead slim gown and the integrity of the dress remains intact. It was the perfect backdrop for Monica's hair pieces.
I got to say first off that I love Miamai's hair bases.  They come in several versions and Monica has picked the right one for each style.  I appreciate this level of extra attention to detail.  Giselle utilizes a hair base with a strong central part.  The hair piece sits high on the head with with an updo with a sturdy braid wrapping the front.  It has an extra texture layer to provide depth as well as a few loose tendrils.
Yanne plays it tighter with sleek french braids running at contrasting levels on both sides of the head and ending in a tight bun at the back of the head.  It utilizes the same hairbase as Giselle (Style C).
Lika is classically gorgeous.  It uses a hairbase that is pulled straight back and has a large bun as well as braids that run the length of the skull and wraps around the back of the bun.  No whispies on this one.  It's perfect in it's formality.
Ixie is probably the most casual of the hair pieces.  It uses a partless hairbase (Style B) and is in the style of hair that has been swept back into a pony-tail and then made into an updo with a set of barrettes.  It also has a gentle flexie layer to make it less severe.
Kirge utilizes a hairbase (Style A) with that is side parted then combed tight to the head.  It features a two level bun and strong side tendrils.  The hairbase really makes the look for me and I think would be fun not only with glam but strong urban looks.

Now go get 'em at the Miamai booth at Hair Fair 2012. There is also an special gift updo available at the fair, that probably won't be available after the fair (hint hint).

Hair Fair 2012: Bleinsen + MaiTai

Plurabelle Laszlo of Bliensen + MaiTai is someone I highly admire.  She is somebody who marches to her own drum.  I've always loved her jewelry and for the last two years at least I've had the honor of checking out her releases for Hair Fair 2012.  Plurabelle does not make hair all the time but the ones she releases for this event are always unique, glammy and highly stylized; either retro chic or have a spanish flair.  This year she went mesh and does it unrigged.  I was able to stretch and adjust individual prims to my heart's content, which was especially handy with the style above, Curl Up.  A cute addition, but I did not show for time's sake is a multicolor option in each tone so that the curls on top of the crown have 4 versions of multicolored strands.
Habanera and Immaculada (below) contain elements of traditional Spanish hairstyles with a strong center part, chignon and ornamental combs.  The hair is modifiable so I guess you could take off the comb if you really wanted to, but I think they are perfect.  Habanera has ringlet curls in front and a higher updo as well as a colorful comb
Immaculada is very strong and it's comb is less delicate.  I love these styles as they are so different from my usual casual-Eden look and when I have time I love to play around and pretend I'm glamorous.
Forbidden Fruit has a vixenish mid-century look.  The hair ornament, Forbidden Fruit, is a great match if you own her Forbidden Fruit jewelry set (which I've shown in the top photo.  This hair does include a version without the jewelry and I think it's dying for a pillbox hat!

There are still a few days left of Hair Fair 2012.  Each designer is offering a portion of sales at this event to Wigs for Kids so please purchase at the event if you can!

Home Expo: Beachy Keen with Cory Edo

If you are in the mood to shop you've found the right time.  Some major events are happening right now,  many with the purpose of raising funds for charity.  Culture Shock 2012 comes to an end on May 26th and has raised well over a 1.4 million Lindens for the charity Médecins Sans Frontières.  The event has been fantastic and mesh is the star.  It's hard to imagine now what we ever did without it.  Chic Management has been challenged by the  charity to earn 2 million dollars so tp on over! The blue Mahvi Sequined Pants (mesh) from Miamai are an exclusive color at Culture Shock and a perfect tone for summer.  The sequined texture picks up all kinds of high notes making them really fun to dress up or down.  I'm in love with the Safari Back necklace from Finesmith and it is another Culture Shock exclusive so you really might want to get back for a last look before these are a thing of the past.
Before I get started on Home Expo I wanted to quickly mention that Mimi Coral from Cupcakes had her 8th Rezday yesterday and they are having an amazing sale on select items.  All clothing is 25 or 50 lindens, the Charm skin line is 50 L, several full perm templates for mesh clothing and skins are steeply discounted as well as discounts on eyes and some Model Kits.  Being a frugalista, I had to grab the St. Patrick's Day model kit for 50 L as it included the skin above in 3 tones, 2 mesh dresses, and several pairs of eyes.  I've been a Cupcakes supporter since before Mimi and Rosemary Galbraith merged their two stores; they are so generous and sweet.
This gorgeous piece of furnishing is from Trompe Loeil and makes it's debut at Home Expo 2012.  Home Expo 2012 is the largest home products event of the year and features 13 sims, musical entertainment, a breedables fair as well as a hunt, silent auction and a grid-wide raffle.  This event continues it's tradition of benefitting Relay for Life, the fundraising arm of the American Cancer Society.  The event has a short run of only 10 days, ending May 28th at 10 PM SLT.  Please follow this link for tons of information for the expo, including maps and slurls and a catalog of exclusive items.

The Tropical Beachside Bed above is a 100% donation item from Trompe Loeil.  It is a mesh product and with a land impact of 38 prims.  It comes in an instant set-up and includes everything seen here (except my land, lol).  Both the bed and the deck have single and couples poses.  The  sheltered bed, as well as each pillow and billowing curtains, have several texture changing options for a myriad of possibilites.
Another stunning Trompe Loeil offering with 100% of it's proceeds benefiting RFL is the Tropical Scoop Bed.  It is also a mesh product and is available in 3 wicker colors.  The deck is from the Beachside Bed above so is not included.  The Scoop has a touch-activated top that smoothly moves up and down for stargazing/sunbathing.  All fabric elements are individually texture change and I am showing a sample of colors available.  The palm trees in this photo are part of a mesh megapack of 48 trees that includes 3 models with 4 bark and 4 leaf textures for each.  This is also a 100% donation item and with the exceptional attention to detail that Cory Edo offers in this product you should never need another palm tree again.  Thank you, Cory!

FFL: Get Over There!

Today is the last official day of Fashion for Life for 2012 so if you have not, please go and buy one of everything.  FFL is SL's largest fundraiser and benefits Relay for Life.  This year's Chairperson, Harper Beresford, amongst others, has given countless hours to the event and so much effort has been made for the shopping experience to be pleasant.  The 10 themed sims are all unique and some are spectacular.
I am showing a number of items using Miamai's Lilli dress as a backdrop that can be picked up at FFL, all of which 100% of the proceeds benefit Relay for Life.  Most stores will be taking the special vendors back to their main stores if you do not make it to the event, but the event gives you a chance to see many at once as well as see participants newest releases.
Loue is one of Miamai's newest releases.  Not exactly gown length but more of a maxi ballerina it features an elegant feathered collar piece that adds so much chicness.  You can find it right now at Miamai.

I really like this dress from ArisAris.  I wasn't planning on covering it for the Back to Black event but I saw another blogger in it and I was struck by how quite pretty it is.  There are lovely ethereal layers covering the skirt as well as the arm attachments.  I almost stuck wings on but I felt that was somewhat too expected.  I am still completely in love with the new hair from Wasabi Pills, Sybille, which comes in 2 versions because apparently MissAllSunday Lemon and Rouge Darcy could not agree on which version should be sold so both are available.  It is meshy loveliness, which I'm just now starting to purchase since Firestorm's new viewer does not lag me down as much as other mesh viewers tend to do (thank you!).
Aura has made new skins and Tyr Rozeboom has very generously given group members 2 different sets, each with 2 tones.  This one above is Briar - Berlin and below I am wearing Helena - Love Notes, which is in Paper, a group exclusive skintone (xoxoxo).
I adore the meshy awesomeness of MiaMai's Survive outfit.  It has the most wonderful corset that is cinched tightly. I feel a bit like a cancan dancer at the Moulin Rouge.  The tiled textures look so real on it and it is like nothing else I own which is a hard feat for a person with over 100 K in their inventory.  It is available in 5 sizes based on Standard Sizing standards.
Shag has a wonderful updo at Back to Black. I was drawn to it because of the optional rosary beads in the hair.  Those are color change.  I've my share of updos but this one is very versatile and can be kittenish or vintage...so it has range.  Elemental offers a great lapis lazuli set. The bright color beads against the black are representative of how life can outshine the darkness.
Lassitude & Ennui offers the lovely meshy Flutter boots in 3 different colors. Each contains 4 sizes for all different kinds of leggies.  I was somewhat surprised that I liked the medium size best on me because I am not a large avatar so do demo if you can.  I remember Lassitude & Ennui from one of my first jewelry sets from the Free Dove and I'm thrilled to see another long-standing brand that keeps up with the technology.  I love the victorian feel of these boots and am going to have to get on some of my goodies from Silent Sparrow and see how they work!  Man, I love clothes!

Hair Fair: Lelutka and Other Things I'm Loving

I'm a bit behind on my posts for Hair Fair.  This time of year is always busy with the holiday and several family birthdays all in the course of a week.  However, I need to do my own share of squeeing and loving and I had to start with LeLutka.  I did not purchase all the hair but I did have some favorites which I will show.
I completely fell in love with Shoop from LeLutka. I swear I don't know why I don't just instantly fatpack these and toss out half my hair that I've stopped wearing since Thora Charron has been hitting one home run after another lately with gorgeous hair.  The amazing scalloped hair band and the Bridget Bardot frame across the face are hard for me to pass.  The Natilde skin from haut.monde is another one of my new obsessions.  I picked up my first set recently during a pre-release for Lazy Sunday or something like that and I've ended up joining the group and have become a huge fan.  More on the skin later.  I am going to have to show you more of Boom's new Element tanks that can be layered over her Everyday tanks as this shot does not do them justice.  They come in 29 different color options and make a normal tank all kinds of sexy.
I love messy hairstyles.  In RL my hair is slick straight so messy just means it hangs there yawning and LeLutka has been doing amazing tousled styles lately. Loose is another hair I just should have fatpacked!  Quickly get over to Peqe!  Peqe is celebrating it's first anniversary and have at least one item in each style marked 50% off.  I love her sculpts and picked up the M.I. Dress and matching Keira boots along with umm a "few" other things at great prices.  Role Optic's new Advantage sunglasses notch up the style just to where I want it.  2 new styles for both men and women are hud driven and come with 9 colors that can be changed on various parts of the frame for many combinations.  The lenses are also adjustable as well as options for flares.  I love their glasses, which are not just textures on a prim, and are impeccably made.

Back to haut.monde.  I was shopping with Jacqui, which is a sure way for me to go broke.  I wanted to show her the new shoe releases there and she did her "OOOO" thing which is pretty much a dangerous thing.  We started demoing the Natilde skins which we both had picked up a pre-release version of a few weeks ago and she starts her "Eden that is so you" talk and I had to agree.  I looked great and cuter than her.  The most awesome thing?  For 700 or 800 L you don't get just one skin... you get a fatpack with a whole bunch of makeup layers for a fun day of SL Barbie!  FYI - the base layer does not have a mouth but it includes several tat layer lips. I IMed Teresa Republic, the creator and one of my new goddesses, who assured me my graphics card hadn't croaked on me and that this is how it should be.  I'm sure some people would rather I not have a mouth in hope I would not say some of the things I say in IM.

Lots of good times for all can still be found at Hair Fair '11.  Lelutka can be found on Sim 1 and a complete list of slurls can be found on the Hair Fair blog as well as all kinds of tips to make it easier to visit.
