Mystic Stallion

I found this horse on the Marketplace a while back. It has around 11 built in poses, and it's texture change. This color is just so mystical looking to me, for some reason, (or maybe I'm just weird.) it was an instant yay. Not to mention, I've always loved horses. When I was little, I told my mom I wanted one. She said, "but you don't have anywhere to keep it!", to which I replied, "YES I DO! I'll keep it in my bedroom!". I'm sure it goes without saying, that idea didn't work. I'm glad now though. If it had, I'd still be cleaning poo out of my carpet. :D

Anyway, when I found the horse, I instantly knew which outfit to pair it with for the photo. I found this dress at Fameshed many months ago. It's from Zenith. They also made the head wreath I'm wearing, which matched perfectly with the colors in the dress.  I think the style of the dress helps portray the innocent vibe I was looking for.

That's the beauty of Second Life™. You can become an innocent maiden, roaming through a whimsical forest, with a mystical horsie by your side. And the best part? You don't need a shovel!

I am going to start dating my posts because I'm tapped out of ideas lately

I hope everyone who celebrates the Christmas holiday had a safe and happy one.  I live in a cold climate and as I get older I have really come to love the beauty of winter.  The Trace at The Celestial Realm is the most gorgeously landscaped sim and it has become a favorite place for photos (you can even rez there!).

I was excited to get out of red/green clothes; it's not really a favorite combination for me, probably because my schoolteacher mother is the most festive person on the planet and had outfits and various regalia for just about any holiday. Even in SL I tend to grab black so lately I've tried to be more expansive and I'm liking the results. Azure Electricteeth of Tee*fy is someone who really knows her colors and I love the combinations she is offering at this months Collabor88.

Speaking of Collabor88, Miss Cory Edo has recently put her December release for the event out for sale and it is nothing short of a STEAL at L$ 88.  This seems to be some kind of penitence she is forcing upon herself for not being on time for once in her life as she is such a consistent and high quality creator. The Willoughby Lakehouse is a gorgeous farmhouse with touches of Gothic Revival to give it special character. It comes in 2 different colors; I'm showing the "warm" version here as I love the trim combination.

The home includes a snow add-on for the roof (that I forgot to put on) and has a control system for lighting, windows and doors.  It weighs on with a LI of 119 (10 more if you remember to add the snow).  I am a sucker for houses (though I spend my time on a platform) and this one is a definite keeper.

Fly Girl

Oh joy and happiness!  Plurabelle Laszlo of Bliensen + MaiTai has hit it out of the ballpark with her adorable releases for A Clockwork Spiral, a steampunk themed event that ends today! Run and get these things! The event is a charity event for the National Kidney Foundation. Designers offer select items with a percentage going for the charity. The items may be sold at the designer's mainstore and Marketplace at their discretion. The hair and shoes I am wearing are both from Bliensen + MaiTai.  The adorable, must-have shoes are made for Slink's medium feet and come in many colors. The brown's are a 50% donation to the charity.

The clothes and jewelry I am wearing are from the My Attic event that just started it's Flowers in My Attic round. This round runs until September 30 and every item is only $L 95.  There are some incredible selections this round and I pretty much bought it out.  Ironically, besides the cute ring from Epoque nothing I am wearing in these shots has flowers!  I loved Emery's Safari Shirt and Striped Skirt. They are both impeccably made and the shirt comes in both a tucked in and longer version.  I really appreciate those kinds of features and play a big influence in my purchasing decisions.  The peplum from Tee*fy is an older Collabor88 item and I've used it over and over again with several looks.  My Kaelyn skin is from Izzie's and was for last month's Collabor88.  Izzie Button included Slink skin applier's with the skin and I was all over that like a fly on stink!  I shop a lot and I've learned to be smart about it...because I hate tinting for all the various windlights.

Comp is giving me fits today but nonetheless I must carry on!  More cuteness from Designers United.  The dress is from B.C.C., called Jewelry Raindrop dress so of course I had to get blue. It comes with these little raindrops that you can attach to your avatar for added effect but raindrops and pose chairs don't go together very well.  The pose chair is a collab between Marukin and NYU and is all adjustable and stuff.

So today, I ended up at the Courtier's Docks because I had to get this adorable hair piece from Black Liquid.  It is a limited Edition and I think it's nearly half sold out so hurry if you need it.  It does not include a hair base and it's one tough black to match. The designer gives you a LM to Paper Couture because she has a matching hair base but I knew I had one in my inventory and get tired of rebuying things because I can't find what I need.  However, I did go to Paper Couture and lo and behold there were new items!  I had to get the Pearl and Silver Collar, in all it's delicate loveliness.  Oh and, I did find a hairbase and it's a really good match: It's Miamai Hairbase Style C_Black 3. I needed the middle part and nothing else would do.

Bring on the Cool Air!

I live in Michigan, which is basically a sweaty, miserable swamp in the summer.  Today we finally hit the coolest day since early June and I am so relieved.  It put me totally in the mood for League's Etta Knit dress which is being featured at September's Collabor88.  It's so nice to see Nena Janus making some new clothes as she has such a lovely way with color...and I love heathers.  The belt is color changeable via hud and perfectly accented Ingenue's new Delia Heels, also new at this month's Collabor88.  I've never been one to minimize my love of anything that Betty Doyle of Ingenue does.  Her work is always impeccable and intricately crafted.  It is because of Betty that I finally broke down and bought Slink feet (I can be so old skool I swear).  Now my hunt is for skin appliers :)

Izzie Button installed a new gacha at her store in just the past week and I have played it to get various colors of these cute camera necklaces.  They are mesh and a song at only 40 L per play.  Auxiliary's Purrfect Headband from The Arcade works so matchy matchy with the dress and works nicely with Wasabi Pill's
Melissa Hair, also at Arcade.

I'm almost ready to shut up. I hit The Season's Story last night and was overwhelmed by the items for sale there.  u.f.o. has an two adorable gachas and I had to play until I got the adorable camera in the first shot. The poses I'm using are from Model Poses and they are sooo cute.  Each set is only 60 L each and includes both the individual poses plus a hud and loaded pose stand, which I thought was super thoughtful!

The Elephant in the Room

We've all experienced it. Now you can have your very own Elephant for your room.  Daphne Klossovky from HANDverk created these adorable elephants for The Liaison Collaborative in Summer and she is releasing them in a bunch of new colors so there is no excuse to ignore them anymore.  HANDverk VIP group members can pick up an elephant in red, blue and jade for 50% off on Thursday, September 12.  They come in 2 sizes but they are modifiable so if you want to size one say...elephant sized...and stick it in our living room, you can.  The white one on the left is a new subscriber gift and is a must-have at any yard sale.

Last Hurrah: Chic2

Chic2 will be ending on the 24th.   Now is a great time to hit it one last time and make sure you didn't miss anything!  RL has been jam-packed and SL is about as hectic as it's ever been.  I'm sure many of you can empathize -- sometimes it's rather impossible to get a few free minutes to accomplish the tasks you intended to do when you logged in.   My friends, Lynndia and Zazzy, visited me to show off their new avatars, so here we are in a family portrait.  I was completely amazed by the new mesh deer avatar by Water Horse and the beagle by Happy Mood is about as cute as it can be.

Most of the items in the photos can be found at Chic2.  I adore BENT's Country Chic Barn prop.  There are 10 built in animations, all adjustable.  I could have goofed around with this prop all day.  I loved JustB when the store had an inworld presence and I've been thrilled to see her work again at recent CHIC Management events.  The new velvet pants are available in standard sizes and hopefully, she will add them to her Marketplace collection after the end of the event. [A]renesmee is a new store to me and her adorable mesh vests added a nice touch of casual chic.  In the photo just above, is Zenith's mesh maxi dress in an interesting brocade.  The prim belt attaches separately so you can adjust the placement to your shape. Chloe has some adorable HoneyComb jewelry at Chic2 and will be releasing a full line at Vintage Fair. I look forward to it.  Wasabi Pills released Anais 2 for Chic 2 and is unponied version of one of my all-time favorite releases from her!

Izzie Button is one of those designers that can do about anything.  Her beautiful Anne dresses for Chic2 are available in 6 soft pastels that are so perfect for warm summer days. Pomme d' Amour's Birds & Bees hair for Chic2 has a jauntily tipped fedora in happy tropical colors so I had to add the Parrot Necklace from [trs] that is exclusively available at the Black Market.  The skin in all the photos is from Essences and also available at Chic2.  The new Rowena skin is available in 5 tones and includes tattoo'd cleavage, freckles, moles and eyelashes.  Happy Birthday CHIC, one last time!

Back to Black + Wasabi Pills

I am way behind in blogging the Back to Black Event which started last Friday.  Chic Management, the event host, has been around long enough now that we are seeing the second year of events and they are always superb.  Back to Black is a mental health awareness event.  Chic is not running this as a charity event though some designers have chosen to donate earnings to charity.  Sadly, mental health needs both.  According to the SAMHSA website in the US mental health and substance abuse funding grew slower than all other health funding, which is really sad when you understand that the public sector significantly outspend private insurers when it comes to funding mental health care.  What this boils down to is that for people with the most severe mental illnesses, they have to lose almost everything before they can get adequate mental health care.  This only serves to perpetuate stigmatizing views of people who have a mental illness/issue so I'm all for anything that promotes awareness.  Luckily treatment advances have occurred and there is no reason for anyone to have to suffer in shame or alone.

I've been inspired by the sharing of so many designers as well as event organizers of their own experiences with mental heath. I would feel like a complete hypocrite if I did not also share that I have both Major Depression and an Anxiety Disorder for which I receive treatment.  My first real depressive episode happened while I was in graduate school and it was easily treated with medication.  When my husband died suddenly a  few years back, it felt like the world fell out from under me.  However, I had a toddler to care for and was a busy professional (in mental health :) and I did not take very good care of me and eventually my symptoms snuck up and bit me back.  I continue to experience symptoms of impaired concentration and anxiety but luckily it's all pretty well managed at this point.  Recovery is possible.

Culture Shock: Izzie's

With 184 store spaces, Culture Shock, which opens on May 1st, will be sure to showcase some of the best content creators on the grid.  The event will benefit Médecins Sans Frontières, commonly known as Doctors Without Borders, and each store is required to provide a minimum of 3 new and exclusive items, that contribute 50 - 100 % of their profits to the charity.  The event is sponsored by Chic Management, which has developed a fantastic and deserved reputation of top quality.

I adore the dresses that Izzie's is offering exclusively at Culture Shock. The designer, Izzie Button, could not be sweeter and she is also clever as she has included an alpha layer for the skirt so that you don't have to fret about whether the sculpted skirt will cover your tush.  There are two options for the top.  I've shown the more decorative top but there is also a solid tube-top version which is nice if you want to wear a jacket or shrug.  Each part is available in all layers for versatility and the skirt is available in both a resizable and non-scripted version.  Izzie has made complimenting pearl sets for each of her outfits and they work perfectly.  She obviously spent a ton of time on the placement of each piece as they fit me perfectly and hung well, which is not something I can always say.

Arcy Halfpint, of Fall In, makes his debut to me with stunning Deliciouz skin.  I am wearing the Devin version, which is the fairest.  I will make a full review of this skin soon but I had to carry on for just a bit.  The purchase includes 5 makeups, including a clean version for those that love to work the tat layers. I particularly love the luminescence of the face.  It is an interesting face, with just the right amount of detail and I love that the brows aren't overly dark when I want to wear light hair and not have power brows.   This is skin that you need, especially if you love to try new looks. Trust me.
